Death The Invincible

Missing image
Ah death the unrelenting reaper
Rapacious taker of lifeblood all
From mightiest to the insignificant
None may refuse your call
Detested fiend must you leave me ' lone
As age with grief follow long years
Gathering ripest seed once sown
While ocean tides incessant ebb and flow
So our time shall cease yea death
Doeth know, doeth know
Night and day you slash/slay
Each minute/hour our race is run
Scythe of death life's game play
Marble monuments  proclaim who has been
We shine brief as a distant star
But within our tombs time draws us clean
No hand has held that celestial key
Who knows , who knows when life is done
Open this final door for all may see
Your own game render draughtsman of death
Ah dark avenger when you face me
Hovering , waiting for my final breath
Naught can I do but let it be, let it be

Great write here. It has a great flow and rhyme to it. I think it kinda had an old-time feel with your choice of wording. Thanks for entering and good luck!

That was fantastic! I really like the wording of this and your word choices as well... it really gives it an old time feel... like medieval even, which is somewhat fitting since there was a great fascination with death in those times.
I thought the end was absolutely perfect. As if those words were your final words spoken... not only that but you state so wonderfully that there is nothing we can do to escape it... "naught can I do but let it be, let it be" that line just rolls off the tongue when spoekn out loud. Wonderful job with the prompt given
Thanks for entering and good luck!
