o.k. as summing most KC

In this shopping mall of freaking
some come to large department stores
of computers and headphones
while others find small prices
at radio stations enough

On the tiled floor is the wheel-chaired spot
where people with lymph problems
and true inspiration are invited
to the boogie woogie bevy

While carpet is free for any
who presume they can rush their limbs and fumes

I saw someone pull into the last open space
of restricted dancing ramps
and I didn't want to risk breaking my beat's
bone out of place on the ice
like hip,
so I called the DJ
to put this situation in manacles,
ameliorating gestures

I said
help me, I'm handicapped
of a song right now,
and some stranger
in a pink cadillac came and pulled in crooked
(by his making fun of even fine disco songs)
and it's snowing outside
(I can't park on the rug)

She said
Well laughing at the authorities
of decades isn't good
lemme embark police car tires
of a lyrical disc to start rolling
and Midnight Star
will chic handcuff him
so you can bump!
snap shicamaluu

I said
I'm richer with you keeping them
to the line as Lionel Richie
(I'll pour popcorn from the sky-lit ceiling
on the hour horn stubborn lazy ones
don't stub your towing)

Author notes

it's mainly based on my absolute favorite groovy song;

http://www.metrolyrics.com/no-parking-on-the-dance-floor-lyrics-midnight-star.html

but i hint two others hehe, if you'll ever guess.

oh also thanks so much for the contest cuz three months ago i got the idea, but of course all the lyrics prompt contests didn't have the song. so now it fits!

p.s.
once a week my daddy lets me stay up late to get more than just a few good disco songs, so also he was lenient with me getting in the contest.

A contest entry

what made you wanna dance more; the song or my poem hahaha?

i think KC does a song called "give it up". i am wondering if that song was alluded to in the caddilac parking sequence..snow looks best when sunshine is added but full moonlight on snow has a special place as well. if i remember right didnt chic do a tune that included the line get down boogie oogie oogie? i also recall a few artists combining forces like sister sledge and chic. at any rate they were major players in the disco scene. i think i got the dancing on the cieling one by Lionel richie. what a commodore in the first class for sure.
i like the way this poem is layered with graphic illustrations. the first stanza sets the piece up by explaining how you dont have to spend a lot of cash to have a good time. then it goes on to illustrate how the hard realities of life can be over come by the power of fun and good music.
when judging a contest i look for artistic style, intresting use of language and the overall connection to the contest theme. above all i look for work that stands up and demands my full attention. if you read the other contributions to this contest it should be clear that this piece is a hundred stories high.
nixon got caught. ford took over. carter came in. then regan. the presidency during disco days was crazy. but this time. you are the supreme leader.

thank you so much for making this contest worth it.

w00t! such a breath of air after going though hard altitude to find this surprise, thank you

i didn't reply right away due to, even when the internet worked my maintenance of that was not high-spee as i have to cross carpet which is too strong for my mamma, so she's trying the garage until better {when she can it'll be as 'asapap' } -- yet still remains my checker even with no printer ink lol. "over come by the power of music" is specifically special, when i remember your invite to the contest was, 'behold the power of disco.'

i totally appreciate this, and your fairness in judging by your honesty, laid out by your opinion that it's not just because it's me since you've been impressed before. i'm glad there could be an interpretation of my getting your attention for, 'excuse me, sir, boogie woogie my words' ... i've viewed the other competents, [logged out, and not many did i login for] and there was one, in which sadly only the first line stayed creative.

hehe i'm the ruler of writing about disco right now? how long's my term (ok, i don't take it seriously as to put a crown on stronger than a trophy, but i do take a bow.)

maybe shadow-preserved snow in montrose is like a man-made moonlight. hmm. this house!

i can definitely say that Chic & Sister Sledge harnessed a highness on the disco station i used to listen to in Denver before i had to leave the city. and their main hits can be popular at our party too. both on my top ten!!!

i was thinking you were going to really confuse "boogie oogie oogie" band name as beatles; theirs taken from a taste of honey. but but hey hey it's ok, as part of my hints would drive you down the chic road, so good!

      a day's work,
      D
