Just. Like. Momma.

Smoke curled through her eyeballs from the half inhaled cigarette,
Lying i-n-n-o-c-e-n-t-l-y- in the overflowing baby-shit green ashtray.
White-wrapped (cancer) addiction gracing her cracked, *g*a*r*i*s*h*l*y* rouged lips,
A yellowed presence looking down through the ages.
Just.
  like.
  Momma.
That woman had always told her she’d never make it anywhere,
Butshehad!
She’d traipsed right to the nearest street corner.
That’s where he found her, 18 and lookin’ for trouble,
He was pretty enough, for a city boy, that is.

Mostly he offered quick cash, and she needed another hit of
                                                                                                        The Monster
He offered money for sex, and she was justdesperate and b_o_r_e_denough to accept.
Now she worked at the truck stop right across from that corner.
And e.v.e.r.y. night, after her shift, the truckers found her there,
Waitin’ to make some quick money to cater to The Monster.
Guess Momma was right. She never did make it out of Dodge.

  • I'm...I'm not really sure. It's a bit of my own fears, and also just some creativity and mistakes I and others I love have made. -shrug- Just a mix of life, I guess.

    Nice

I like this poem a lot. I can't say exactly that I relate to it in any way possible but I still have to say that I like it and that it still meant something to me. I never smoked though or done drugs or really anything bad like that. Anyways Ivy I loved your write and I look forward to reading more. I especially liked the way you pinned your poem when you wrote it.

Haha I like the comment below. It is kind of creepy. Oh, what gave you the idea to write this?
