Flaws Are Where Perfection Is

I don't care about the broken piano keys,
or cut guitar strings.
The point is, they make music,
the essence of human sanity,
and for this reason they are perfect.
I don't care about the dead, leafless tree
with rotting bark.
The point is, it is nature,
something once alive and still holding so much life,
and for this reason it is perfect.
I don't care about the peeling canvas,
or the old, faded colors.
The point is, it's art, it tells a story, and
in its prime it was beautful..and still is.
For this reason, it is perfect.
I don't care about the awkward stumbling of words,
poor grammar, or cliches.
The point is, this is poetry,the best way to "scream your soul"
in the most silent way you can while still being heard.
For this reason, it is perfect.


As for you?
I don't care about any of the tiniest flaws in your face,
your hair, your eyes, any part of you.
I don't care if you might not excel at everything.
I don't care if you had a really harsh past,
I don't care if you've ever made mistakes at all.
I only care about how I feel when I've made you laugh,
I only care about the way you can see into one's mind's eye
and have a staring contest with it until you've read enough.
I only care about hearing you speak and tell me about how much
I've helped you and how now I'm the center of everything to you.
I only care about the fact that I helped you emerge from darker times
and that somehow I'm partly responsible for who you are today.
For these reasons, and millions more, you are perfect.
