I could uncover a chain
from a day of hard rain to a day of gentle sun.
I could sit at Grandmother's feet and hear
the beating of distant hearts.
She left a shadow on my palm.
There was a light,
a wisp of understanding;
lifted above the flames of day
that lingered long
drowned the subtle night
brought it naked to my window.
A child of worry become
a father of pride, the view
over horizon is never clear until
clouds behind us shed their tears
to quench fertile ground.
I could unearth bones that loved the sun
touch ashen-faced moon of yesterday's memories;
I would love the light then as now.
I could uncover a chain
from a night of laughter, sweetness of passions,
a day of gentle voices and child's wishes;
... a shadow on my palm.
Words like raindrops, fall upon simple seeds
rise to cloud, and cover seas,
without forgetting.

There are certain poems that make me feel like I'm on a roller-coaster. This is one. Each turn brings a new jolt to the senses. Poem like this remind me of when and why I fell in love with poetry--the analogies are spectacular. And the images... From the repeated title line to the spacing, I think this is a perfect poem.

How great a poem. This was my favorite part -
"I could unearth bones that loved the sun
touch ashen-faced moon of yesterday's memories;
I would love the light then as now."
Man what connotations and imagery! -
