Tear Stained Face

In a bed of roses lies
The key, the trick to my demise
On the thorny vines I prick
Enchanted fingers, clock hands tick
Away the seconds that grow to years
Deminish worries, demolish fears
Of Death, that fool who rules the world
Demands unclouded, his plans unfurled
Reveal my future, now it's clear
My life in danger, my time is near
The in of life, but "Wait!" I say,
"I want to live! Death, go away!"
He looks at me, eyes burning red
Life fire reflecting the souls, the dead
Cry out to me, "Turn back!" I hear
My own heart beating, filled with fear
I drop to my knees and beg for life,
Despite the sadness, despite the strife
I call to God, "I want to live!"
His warmth fills me and He forgives
My straying path from light and grace
I return to living with a tear stained face.
