Mystery of Self-awareness

I find myself traveling
in a backward motion,
where things I use to
be sure about no longer
resonates inside

although my knowledge
of life has grown, and wisdom
to discern has intensified,
I feel lost many times,
unsure about what is real

it seems the closer you
come to acclimation of true
knowledge, the more insignificant
you appear to be in a world
of ever changing tides

we think we know when
in fact we understand very
little as a people, for our perception
of life and the inter-action between
the world and its creatures is complexed

I believe its fair to say
that we are on a journey
of discovery, where the idea
isn't to necessarily attain,
but rather to experience

absolutes are as fleeting
as the wind, and anyone who
holds on to them suffer the
risk of hysterical blindness,
where the mind shuts off

leaving you vulnerable to
every eternal darkness which
seeks to rob us of our birth rights,
which is the enlightenment of self
through transformation

so in order to gain oneself
you have to lose yourself,
emptying out preconceived
notions about your sense of
reality to a kind of surreality

A very insightful read. You have so many great points, and strong truths in this write. I could relate a lot to it as I read... I also really liked how this write felt like a confession. Though at points you were talking generally about 'us', it really felt personal, like you admitted to something about yourself. This helped to intensify.

I loved the title. Connected well with theme of the piece, and really drew me in because I immediately knew what this piece was going to be all about.

I think you need to double-check your grammar in a couple spots. Also, the ending line was not as strong as the rest of the piece, I felt. "to a kind of surreality"... I thought "kind of" took away from what you were saying, and it would've sounded better just as "to a surreality", or if you had of used a different adjective. Also, I thought more device could've been used in some spaces.

This is just minor, person-opinion stuff. Overall, I think you really took to heart what I was looking for! Well done!

    Thanks for the entry,
    Ryan

I like this idea here a lot. It is somewhat of a dichotomy. I think I've heard somewhere: "A wise man knows that he knows nothing."

It's an important message for everyone to understand. Absolutes and generalizations lead to misfortune.

    Great write!

Very deep indeed. This is most profound in not only how it is written, but also in its message...Max
