If I Could

I'm not sure what to say, I'm not sure what to do
So I'll sit here and try writing a poem for you
If I had a guitar, I could write you a song
And if my voice was harmonic, I could sing along
If I had a canvas, I'd paint you my soul
But I'd need a steady hand and a brush made of gold
If I could give you the world in one little smile
I'd make it so without question, I'd make living worthwhile

But I have no guitar, no voice to console
And I don't have a canvas or a paintbrush of gold

You could give me the world in one simple smile
Make my heart feel like it used to and make living worthwhile

One day, I'll get that canvas, learn guitar and join a band
My hands will become steady, my voice no longer bland
Until then, you'll have my smile, and all my love for you
We could give each other the world and that will have to do
