Seven men roamed seven ways to search for a home for seven days before crossing once more into a realm of shadow and emotion blue. In their search they found perched, an angel with a silver bell to sing and ring when all is well but only six times did that bell sing with its ring so one of the seven would be going to heaven by the end of the day.
The morning sun sung sweet with light straying and playing into the curtained rooms to awake the six from the gloom. Once more they did ride out; on six separate paths all in doubt, to find a home before their roam claimed only the loss of name to death’s sweeping blows. Upon the paths was a devil who danced and pranced in glee, ever so happy, and they knew one of the crew would be leaving once more.
By the light of the moon that night only five were still alive searching for the home they’d know when hearts’ roam stopped the journey. Setting out on steeds so keen they rode through grass so green, over meadows and flower covered hills where to spill blood would be a crime. A hand sprung out from the soil and in the screams of horse’s recoil five became four as one more fell to earth in a way to stay and be forever sleeping.
By the next dawn four pushed on paths once more separate, yet each would reach the same place, see the same face as the others, those brothers of heart still searching for the home unknown. Upon a sandy series of hills a phoenix flew where it will, leaving only pillars of fire and in its wake freedom’s desire and from the tail of the bird fell feathers of three, an ending of a destiny. The desert took another of the riders held ever in the embrace of fire, leaving only riders three.
Three men sailed then on oceans blue still hoping for what their hearts knew and in the roaring of the seas a mermaid splashed and roamed to see. She called to the men with song, and in their hearts they knew t’was wrong. Yet each day they sailed a heart grew frail and finally in a single splash the three were two in a flash while mermaid song flowed along in victory.
Two on shore searched for more, sensing an end to journey bright, and in the shade of forest glade they beheld a sight of beauty deep, their hearts to keep, but only one such delight existed in sight yet two there were yet still … A mighty challenge was set to the two brothers, and they both set off for mountain top to seek the dragon fierce for love had pierced these two hearts to the core.
The dragon was great and such was fate that it overcame one before it died. The brother knelt and felt the neck that still yet beat for a life so sweet, even as his eyes grew dim and the face of the healthy looked so grim. “Seven took the steps of heart and did depart our native land, and by the hand of fate I see my time grows late and you are the very last. So I ask you take her with all the love that you can muster to show those above that the reward was worth the cost of six brothers whose lives were lost” and in those final words a sound was heard of a sob, from a brother who had been robbed of all siblings on this quest as he knew he had less but yet everything he had wanted to gain.

This was fantastic, darling. A truly beautiful write.
"Yet each day they sailed a heart grew frail and finally in a single splash the three were two in a flash while mermaid song flowed along in victory."
Definitely my favourite line in the whole piece. You have so much talent!
