Horse and rider do battle
as crowds watch in awe,
both strong and determined
neither withdraw.
There's a scent of such frenzy
for cowboy will tame,
but both know the odds
in this contest for fame.
For steed will relentlessly
fight chains that bind,
refusing with struggles
to live life confined.
But the crowds cheer and urge
for a winner they want,
as both rider and horse
each other they taunt.
Finally this cowboy
has tamed his wild mount
and another belt buckle
he adds to his count.
The crowds stand in awe
celebrating his win,
as he turns to acknowledge
the crowd with a grin.
Today is just one day
when he wins this prize
but next time the horse
will may be his demise.
Horse and rider do battle
at each rodeo
and watching the outcome
is what makes a fine show.

Belt buckle and all...good write. Not too many riders can stay on a bucking steed long enough to break them...Fine show indeed!
-
decent
great poem, like the conflict and plot. Poetry to me is like telling a story, and good stories have Conflict in the plot. good work. Each paragraph (or stanza I believe the tech term is) are also about the same length and tell a new part of the story. cool.

Your Poem
Takes me to Oklahoma, and 89er's days with its parade and its rodeo. A fine rhyme, and a good tale told.

Such stubborn will
you have depicted in this write.
I like that you have left an element of uncertainty...which is also the essence of battle.
fantastic!
good luck in the contest

Ride em cowboy! The tale of the rodeo and the wild rides that leave the cowpoke limping off and the poor horse spent. But the excitement of the moment never gets old for the spectators.
