Rock And Roll Soldier

A hero vindictive, destroyer of Serbian memorabilia
Clever megalomania, deceiver on a winters roll
Sleeping in the acid rain, living for the free theomania
An endeavor made possible by greed's vicious call

Protecting human rights, practicing such in cloisters

Mothers with crying daughters, fathers with dying sons

Driven from their homeland, forced into hells horror

Displeasure bred from exposure to an opera of guns

Rock and roll soldier, starting with a mighty big bang

Killing all credos of fear, killing whatever got in his way

Rock and roll soldier, a song of loathing he so sang

Thrilling only his own creed, singing and fighting unafraid

Croatia, Slovenia, going wherever he was called to protect

Macedonia and Montenegro, they too were on the go

Stopping at nothing to win their independence made perfect

Like a river wild unbiased, they done it ultimately with Nato

Rock and roll soldier, on a dark night in the battlefields

There hell came to play, ripping guts this way and that

From a town once at peace, they came heavy heeled

Through the everglades of aghast they met in combat

For years they tried living peacefully, arduous but it so was

Rock and roll soldier, if only he had the right words to say

Words of love, words of tranquility and without fancy flaws

Rock and roll soldier, one cold day and he damn well paid

Bosnia fought dearly, Sarajevo went drinking with the devil

Religious indifference sort to quieten the fighting majority

Only it made modernization and urbanization more than evil

A fear of nationalism, agitating each other in the dying cities

Muslim Bosniaks, Catholic Croats, Orthodox Christian Serbs

So hard they found to truly love one another through time

Kosovo thus suffered, sick reasons were given to so disturb

Women and children raped, thick treason was their crime

Ethnic cleansing, genocide of sectors from the main race

Through it all they came, digging away their mighty past

A greater Serbia was the cry some were heard to embrace

Such a tragic cry, bleeding youth singing of songs to last

Through the juncture of hatred they mended their old ways

Came to a place they could start afresh for future blessings

There they played east to west, spreading the love conveyed

Rock and roll soldier, he came, he fell, he rose again undying

Author notes

One of the greatest tragedies in war is men who could have done something, die doing nothing worth their loss of blood, thus they sadly disappear into obscurity.

This was a great one. It was lengthy but it held my attention, and that's hard to do with me.

"Killing all credos of fear, killing whatever got in his way"
    That's a powerful line.

Thanks for entering and good luck!
