Deception 101

I said I love you
It was a joke but you didn’t know
You’re just a young and eager lover
Like a drunk, reckless driver
Heading for a heart crash.

I said I love you
And you instantly believed it’s true
You’re just a young, foolish boy
Good for a mere game, like a toy
Heading for the trash.

I said I love you
You were convinced I really do
You’re just a boy, so young and dreamy
Thinking you love and need me
Taking everything in a rush.

I said I love you
And you seemed to feel it too
You’re just a young, silly lad
Craving for something that is bad
Taking what you ought not to.

I said I love you
Why did I say so?
Was it to fool you
Or to deceive myself too
You’re just a young, foolish kid
But who am I to kid?
Am I not young myself? And as foolish?

I said I love you
But why did you believe I really do
Are you that young and foolish?
Or do you just pretend
That you believe what I say is true.

Such delicious cruelty - how could you treat a lover so? It is to be hoped that your ploy has been 'sussed out' and the deception failed. An entertaining read indeed.
