Wullie...

Missing image
Don't call me a Jessie if I shed a tear
Dont think that I'm soft for wishing you here
I remember the days way back in the past
We hung out together just having a blast

Went fishing in the knolly, cycled out to the dump
My tyres were flat..you gave me your pump
When we came back from our time out at play
You invited me in and asked me to stay

You opened the fridge, took raw sausage out
Munched on a slice...I wasnt that stout
I remember your laugh..it was deep, rich and loud
No mistaking oor Wullie...you stood out from the crowd

As the years they rolled past...we went different ways
Yet at times our paths crossed on a few lucky days
I regret that I never kept in touch with you more
I promise I wont forget anymore

Rest in peace cousin Wullie.

Danny

A poem that gives a bit of yourself.i always find the words "what if..."quite hard, its always too late!but your poem is more of an acceptance and celebration of life.cousin wullie sounds quite a character.things happen for a reason,so i hope your bearing up.beautiful poem.

Dan, This is a lovely rememberance and tribute to your cousin Wullie. We never know what paths we'll find ourselves on when we travel lifes roads and many a friend gets left behind and lost in the shuffle of every day life. Thank goodness for sweet and precious memories we have to carry with us so we can revisit bygone days and special moments with friends now beyond our mortal reach. Great engaging writing my friend, Write On!

    Very sweet

This is very touching. The imagery if very vivid, and it reminds me to keep in touch with my loved ones more often, for you never know when they will go on to the other side. I am sorry for your loss, but I am sure that you and Wullie will cross paths once again...
