Mary Jane Speaks

She rolled in on a cloud from somewhere better than heaven.
She came in blazing with smoke in her wake when I needed her most
And she has saved my broken soul.
She whispers to me, like a mother, a best friend,
“Breathe deeply and count to three.
Exhale slowly and find the world a little easier with me.
Remember tonight a feeling long lost,
A passion forgotten, a sensation reborn,
A memory of running home at no hidden cost.
Forget the meaning of fear
And surrender to me the lies of your youth.
Forgiven and renewed,
You must seize your awakened desires and take hold my hand
And we’ll dance and sway in the majestic winds of freedom fires.
So sing and dance and make love to Jesus late into the night
And the moon will be your spotlight.
I’ll show you how to light the fire in the shadows of your mind
And when morning breaks, I’ll put it back together and ease your pain of any kind.
My name is Mary Jane and I’m here to help you fly away.”
