And cans that we can not see through,
Such use is constructive and helpful
And serve as beneficial tools.
But when we go labeling Humans
In our stereotypical ways,
We are doing ourselves a disfavor--
And opening the door for disgrace.
I want not by men, to be labeled
By their preconceived notions of me,
Blinded by superficial judgments
How can they my qualities see?
Nor would they desire such treatment
To be put in a niche, shelved away,
But the benefit of true exposure
To be who they are--not what we say!
Let's label jars--not people
Let's give All Opportunity,
To show themselves for who They are
And then more equity, we'll see!
Author notes
One of the means of practicing unfair treatment of others is to dismiss them by pigeon holing them into broad and disparaging catagories or labels. This poem addresses this and pleads for seeking to give all poeple their due consideration based upon kind consideration and not the labels of disrespect and distancing.

It seems it is human nature to perceive, sadly we are not very good at it, I believe it would best to peel away at ourselves first and maybe just maybe we could be of some service, we tend to trust and worship gossip, perhaps we feel as we are more if someone else is less.
either way it sad and alive and well.
we are very primitive and have a long way to grow
love this
it is so needed
well done
God bless you my friend...

First off. . .Excellent Title! The absolute truth is written here, and if only everyone would not only read, but absorb and adopt the wisdom of it. If we were meant to have labels we would have been born with one stuck on our foreheads. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Wow if this doesnt speak to me nothing will, i've always been something to everyone else, a goth, a emo, a freak etc etc etc maybe that is why I hate it sooooo damn much. I'm big on human rights and labelling is a form of discrimination. You have covered a topic that needs to be addressed and you have done so in a creative and truthful way. Thank you.
