Finding Your Footing

It's like waking from a drugged sleep
Shaking off the effects of night
Clouded on how it all happened
Just knowing you strayed from the light
The deeds that were sown in darkness
Will reap a crop of destruction
Afraid to tell the ones who care
It's the last humiliation
And so you forget where to start
You struggle to open your eyes
Blinded by the glow of real life
Crawling out of the bed of lies
Stumbling as you look for the door
Coughing from a bad taste inside
You begin to find your footing
Feeling the guilt you've tried to hide
Each step feels like an old routine
But you know its all you can do
Your cold hand grabs your throbbing head
As the memories all rush through
Only glancing in the mirror
You are ashamed to show your face
Washing off the pain and regret
The marks time can only erase
But water is a reminder
Of how our sin is forgiven
The blood that stained our soul to pure
Grace and mercy freely given
We can cast aside the old ways
Grasping onto love unending
Breaking through the death of sin
Feeling the Spirit start mending
The tears we have put in our heart
With peace we cannot fully know
To strengthen us in our weakness
Until only His works we show
