Look Upon My Travail

Missing image

Lord let not confusing reign in my stead

I seek from thee my living bread

Grant my heart perfect serenity

Strengthen me in my adversities

I've no one beside thee

Look upon my humility

let fall the chains my bondage to sin

I give my utmost to my king

Turn my eyes from beholding evil

My strife and struggle unravel

Look on my pain and affliction

Lord upon my soul in travail

I am like a owl in the wilderness

In a dry dessert place I languish

Where art thou my beloved

Look upon my tears and anguish

Hear my cries form thy holy temple

Let my sighs not pass from you

Listen to the voice of my travail

May my prayers be not idle

Let thy words speak from thy lips

Touch mine as honey and hyssop

May my lips taste thy goodness

My beloved I await your gentle kiss

Hear from heaven O Lord my God

Open wide my mouth and I shall sup

Lest Lord I in vain seek thee

Lord look upon my travail and integrity

Lord open the fountains of heaven

As the earth drinks of thy dew drops

let my soul oft drink from the fount'

and kiss thy feet at the foot of the mount

Lord in thy mercy I find mercy

In thy forgiveness there is forgiveness

With my lips I bring my praises before you

O my King, my Prince, of peace

O my Rock and mighty fortress

Hide me in thy palace thy pavilion

Under thy Mighty wing hide me

My Lord, the God of my Salvation

keep me walking my earthly pilgrimage

keeper of my soul my Living Bread

May wisdom be my couselor and guide

Trust and faith to preservere when I'm tried

This beautiful. I don't write about religion, so for me reading you a few times a week is special. I can't think of anything to change. I particularly like this stanza:

I am like a owl in the wilderness
In a dry dessert place I languish
    Where art thou my beloved
Look upon my tears and anguish

    Nicely done.

Hear my cries form thy holy temple
