Tanned October leaves
blown into heaps against trees -
Autumn detritus
wind blown carpeting
a mosaic of burnished bronze
underneath my feet
glisten in the rain
like wet fish in the market -
I button my coat.

Evocative haiku mosaic of images, leaves a trace of retinal fish floating in my eye bowls.

Bravo!
I love this
as much as the first. You have such an elegant way of bringing forth your imagery!

Who would've thought of this scene to depict rain soaked leaves? Not I for sure...
Brilliant Dave.
Way to go!

I 'pinched' (sort of) the wet fish from one of my favourite Basho poems.
Fish shop -

of the salted bream.

Thanks. I thought the original 'Leaves' was ok, but you know a work of art is never finished but merely abandoned.
