We live in a world
where comics are called “graphic novels”
as they try to be more mainstream
because their sales has dwindled to a trickle
We live in a world
where hip hop is the new pop
that talks of only sex
as love becomes more general
We live in a world
where singers are mere faces
that execute the art of lip synchronisations
but are still embraced by the screaming puppets
We live in a world
where cartoons are called “animated movies”
where technology tries to replace actors
while audience are still charged the same rate for poor acting
We live in a world
where marketing is an essential art
that is used to sell anything
even if it was a useless piece of junk
We live in a world
where people are facing identity crises
because it is more interesting
to be someone else on the internet
We live in a world
that kids no longer know how to spell
as acronyms take over
and the “one PC for every child” policy materialises
We live in a world
where religion and colour are still barriers
where Sesame Street is rated R-18
and Santa is banned from greeting with “ho, ho, ho!”
So maybe that’s why
I no longer watch MTV
or listen to the radio
while live acoustic sets excite me the most
So don’t complain if
I choose to go for girls
who choose not to go for makeup
and who choose to speak proper English
We live in a world
where pasts are inkling bygones
but others hold on for the wrong reasons
like politics and punishments and wars
We live in a world
that’s hard to be real
if you don’t realise
that everything else is fake

an interesting piece to write for a showing of yourself... i see that it does not directly show yourself, but rather your views on the world we live in. unique, indirect way of telling about one's self. nicely done.
goodluck in the contest and thanks for entering.
