Let it be said that I wept for the world.
Let it be said it be said that I took the time to heed
the message of the flowers, the nirvanic intonations
of bodhisattvic songbirds and the delicate prayers
of butterflies.
Let it be said that the white silk garment of my lover
soothed the nouns and verbs that came
to spill like confused fireflies from my tongue
and that the naked grace of an acoustic guitar
and the powerful silence of dawn kissed
my face with dewdrops.
Let it be said that I rested my weary head upon
the shoulders of Bob Dylan, Tom Rapp, David Tibet
and Mark Heard and that my eyes and ears were
opened to the gift of an ever flowing metaphysical
river of words and music.
Let it be said that I abandoned the robes of a half drunk
monk, the shards of broken wine bottles, the lisping
voice of a minor poet and was able to decipher
the chant of the centipede.
Let it be said that I collected the weeds of sorrow
between my bleeding toes, that I touched
a swinging gate of mirrors that stared back at me
with the rolling eyes of tormented geniuses who
were tortured under a foreign bridge . . . but let
it also be said that I kept coming back for more.
Let it be said that I embraced a dove who carried me
to the outer edge of Eternity where the river
of the moon bathed my limbs without sentiments
of separation or fallacy.
Let it be said that I screamed at the wailing wall
of mankind until I was hoarse, that I never dressed
in military costume or slaughtered the stars in
children’s eyes or hide behind the bullet blown
robes of messiahs or gurus.
Let it be said that I heeded Lennon’s mantra on
the essence of love, that I laid inside a monastery
of pot induced music and that I shared in the ecstatic
explosion of heartfelt experience where nothing
could miscolour my vision.
Let it be said that I wrapped myself in the moisture
of lotus petals, that I sought a garden devoid
of wounded amphibians and that the willow tree
of my eyes came to weep soft tears onto the parched
fronds of my soul.
Let it be said that I shared hand made tea ceremonies
beneath a blanket of stars and the benevolent
whispers of a sage who imparted his ancient wisdom
into my hungry ears from some unseen mountain.
Oh let it be said that I wept for the world . . .
but understand that I have been blessed by all
that have touched me and that in my final days
I will whisper a silent prayer of thankfulness
and look forward to my transfiguration
with a smile upon my face.

Wise-Wonderful...
I have enjoyed the reading of "Last Poem" for its imagery and bountiful emotions. It is a bouquet of orchid flowers ~rich in nectar~ to nousrish the hammingbirds of memory, and the bees of history.
In respect and admiration,

Wow
Deeply profound...life brilliantly summed up, exprience that brings out wisdom...I thought with the second line though you would want the Let it be said be alone...it has a tag along line of it be said. Otherwise nothing through me off, a flow and just excellent. Blessings.

I absolutely
this poem. It was very riveting had a very smooth flow and seem to have a crescendo that kept rising as I kept reading. I must ask though why does your poem give me a feel of deja vu
I wanted to point out my favorite line here, but I couldn't find a specific one as the whole poem is my favorite. I will be definitely reading more of your poetry.
I did want to mention Bob Dylan, "IT'S ALRIGHT MA (I'm Only Bleeding)" is my favorite poem/song of all time. If you haven't read or heard it please do so.
I gave you extra clappies as you deserved them.

Thank you for taking the time to read . . . as for Dylan, I idolize the man . . . it is because of him, Ginsberg and a few others that I initially picked up the pen and tried to express myself in spoken word . . .

Let it be said, your last poem tells us, you walked through life, tasting, touching and being touched. You share your life 's synopsis, saying more than the words express.
Let it be said, from what I learned in this one poem, had our paths crossed we would have been good friends.
I will read more of you here, may not comment on everyone, but you will know I was there.

With unsung hero's such as yourself, the world still feels intimately smaller and closer for the voice you spread amongst it.

This is such a deeply revealing pen, exposing more than the written words themselves. And exposed willingly. Such beauty reflects on the writer as well as on the possibilities that await each of us to discover on our own. Thank you for sharing you.

Nicely done!!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and words.
-
Superb
This is the first poem to which I've cried.
The personification was genuine and refreshing.
Wonderfully written. -
The peace and serenity that flows through this piece is almost palpable. Your words have a sadness and finality but the last stanza has an uplifting feel to it.
This Marc, was a true pleasure to read .. again and again.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me

I read this yesterday and had to come back to it. From the first line to the last, this is just a wonderful, involving piece. I kept saying "yes" with nearly every line as it hit me with such truth and openness. I keep looking back to point to one spot that overwhelmed me more than any other, but I can't, this piece as a whole, washed over me and consumed me.
Fantastic. If I could give you fifty little clappies, I would, until I can do that, three will have to suffice.

-
Last poem...what a beautiful way to leave your words, your messages and to
open the eyes of others. For me, I think of life as a stage and we are each actors/
and actresses always leaving impressions for others. You've presented a poem
with a lasting impression that reflects a life that has been well lived!

-
let it be said that i am amazed. totally blown away by your poetic words. if anyones needs inspiration they should come and read your poem. it kept my attention from start to finish.

Beautiful. Completely endearing. This is a treat for me to read. It makes me think of the troubles that we all have in life and that somehow, if we're lucky, we find something that will help us make it through.
Keep up the good work!

this is beautiful thank you for taking the time to remember the greatness that words do bring.... i think this was amazing. I needed some new inspiration and this has become it.
-
Amazing...
my muse needed a good slap, and I think this helped! From start to finish this is profound and takes the reader on an insightful journey, which none but the most obtuse amoung us could possilby deny. This reads into the heart ethereal as music and casts me into deep contemplation. What else can art be asked to do?

-
Aaah Marc... i have no words... let it be said that your voice was heard, far and wide. God bless, my friend . Thank you for touching my live

Let it be said that your voice inspired and shamed your readers, that poets worked harder for your example, that you have graced the different worlds you moved through.
Peace, poet - rest easy, your work may be set aside, there are others who will take up the baton. Time to enjoy your days for yourself; let others who are younger and stronger take the wrongs of the world from your shoulders.

-
