Two debonair side walk philosophers
They sit side by side not talking
Just, sitting, looking straight ahead
In the stilted silence they each contemplate;
their experience of the randomness of their world
Gentlemen of the road, park bench orators both
'They're not the same these day's of course you know?'
'Who; Godot?'
'No. Not Godot! The girls, the young girls of today; who did you think I meant?'
'Godot! I don't know, and I don't care! I'm fed up of waiting.'
'They give birth astride the grave whilst playing their Nintendo’s,
texting on their phones; advanced for their year’s and provocatively dressed.
You, know...........Just slips of girls, without a care!'
'At least they do something; we just sit and wait, wait for Godot!'
'We always wait for Godot and the world passes us by;
they all change and we remain the same my friend.'
The silence returns, like a comfort blanket it wraps around them
Shrouded in the quiet and bound together in thought
They sit, they wait; and are to be found waiting still.
The randomness of the passing world; theirs to contemplate
Those sidewalk ambassador's are there, if you care to see
Usually un-noticed; we pass them by!
Author notes
Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett;"they give birth astride of a grave"
Those lovable Hobo's have been waiting for decades for 'Godot' and today they comtemplate some of today's frivilous young girls, in their own classical style, as they wait.

wow - no really WOW
perfect take on the quote - I like your modern interpretation of Godot. that verse
'They give birth astride the grave whilst playing their Nintendo’s,
texting on their phones; advanced for their year’s and provocatively dressed.
You, know...........Just slips of girls, without a care"
yummy! -
speechless
have to come back to comment when my words return!

I think this is great. To bring together a classic and put it in modern times, very clever.

Very nicely done, those philosophers are everywhere and of all ages. Whilst I would consider this prose rather than poetry, this is very good. A few wrong word issues, nothing major.
Wherever there are park benches and shopping malls, the old men will have a place for their debates.
