The Last Free Man (or so it seems)

It's not the newborn baby child
a someone yet to come
dependent on a mothers care
to fill its comfort zone.

It's not the teenage football star
worshiped by his fans
who revel in his glory
which passes much too soon.

It's not the naked dancer
who caused the girls to scream
wickedly impure
while he struts across their dreams.

It's not the college frat boy
who guzzles down the booze
thinks it's cool to get blind drunk
and puke on someones shoes.

It's not the greedy mogul
his inner self aroused
as he fondles gold that's gathered
by the sweat of other brows.

It's not the would-be guru
who dines on Cornish Hen
while lambs among his flock get by
on table scraps and Zen.

It's not the gangsta rapper
with venom on his tongue
who makes a lot of empty noise
about the life of crime.

It's not the aging rocker
whose songs we used to know
fans who came to weep and moan
no longer make the shows.

It's not the Sunday preacher
shouting forth his praise
hoping that his God will hear
his soul he then shall raise.

It's not the weary soldier
with a thousand battle scars
from wars he fought in younger days
on some forgotten shore.

It's not the politician
who claims to work for you
then compromised his dignity
by bending to the few.

Some say it was Jesus
who came to spread the word
turn water into wine
and free us from discord.

Others claim Mohammad
who calmed the desert wind
and gave to those who listened
the wisdom he discerned.

For many it was Ghandi
who sought no earthly gain
except for peace he found within
and hope for humankind.

If not for men of courage
who put us to the test
we'd still be marching backwards
thru the glories of our past.

Yet in this life the worst of it
which few can rarely see
so long as one man stays a slave
then no one's truly free

This was great and it was really quite true. While one man remains a slave, one remains free. This is how our lives seem to go no matter what part of it you look at. Of course, most wouldn't call it so but that is just how it is. I think most of the real people of courage are the average everyday workers who plod along and get little in return for without them in the wheel the whole damned wagon would come to a screaming halt. Your piece speaks much about how life runs, how people view things and how we overlook so much at the same time. Your wisdom and your ability to see beyond what most eyes don't see is really tresurable. You can create masterpieces from anything and give us always something to think about. Excellent work, my friend and keep up the terrific writing.

Is anyone really free? The people starve in far away countries for lack of food while here in the West young girls slaves to fashion and a perceived ideal body image starve themselves to attain it. Men and women alike are slaves to youth and looking young botox and other strange things injected or inserted into their bodies. How many of us look in a mirror and think we don't measure up to the image of what we are supposed to be or look like.
Slaves to fashion slaves to money slaves to alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, fame.

Rant over but at least your poem made me think that's for sure

    Very Interesting

So many have lived to proclaim the need for peace and good will, many others have lost their life trying to bring that about. Our enemies do not want freedom as much as we do,they don't wan't Democercy to live by,they do not believe in
The God of our Bible. Some dy we will meet ourself coming back

That is amazingly touching. Ilove it. Nice social statement, there really is no reason for any human being to be neglected, exploited or abused. This really held alot of meaning to me, thank you for writing it.
