it happened to me yesterday:
chaotic tranquility.
a truck took off my driver's side door,
as quick as falling
as final as night
- whammo...
funny thing was
how life slowed down,
almost meditative,
bordering on serene
as we swapped details
to share with our insurance advisors.
it wasn't till later in the day
with my wife throwing tonsils down the telephone line
that I realised how close
death winked at me,
and coupled with the reality
of no wheels for a fortnight,
all my accidental calm
has gone
pissing down
the drain.
