I Miss My Family Most of All

Alone feels so much different,
Since the walls no longer echo with laugher.
Just the memories remain of all those times
I got to spend at home.

Alone feels like you're naked,
Everything you enjoyed seems so bland.
The taste of ice cream in the summer
Didn't quench that thirst.

Alone feels so enchanting,
You can hear the wind whistle.
Enjoy a moment alone,
But only a moment you will enjoy.

I miss my family most of all,
Now that they aren't here.
I wish for nothing more
Than to be with those I love.

So homeward bound I head,
Hoping to find that missing bond.
I walk in to my family's house,
Everyone turns their head.

They tell me that they missed me,
How much they hated when I was gone.
That's the moment I told them all,
I was never really gone.

I missed you.
