Perfect Father

As a little boy hides under his bed,
He cries from the pain.
Beaten and bruised,
Blood running down lip.
A busted lip, bruised cheeks,
A black eye, and a small gash on his forehead.
A bang on the door,
Yelling from the other side.
the boy whimpers as he hides.
Another loud bang.
The door collapses under the force of the drunk father's kick.
Grabbing the boy by the arms,
The drunk father drags the child on the floor,
All the way to the father's dark bedroom.
The boy begins to scream,
"No...please...don't hit me again!
Please...please. I love you...
You are the perfect father!"
The little boy was cut short during his last phrase.
All he remembers were knuckles headed straight for his eye.
After that the boy blacked out.
Waking up,
Blinded by a bright light.
all the boy saw was a silhouette of a man.
Based on recent events,
The boy began to run as fast as he could.
"You can't run or hide from me"
The boy stopped,
Just as the last silhouette's last words flowed gracefully off his tongue.
The next words were as piercing as the blinding light.
"I love you! You are my son!"
The boy's pain began to fade away.
But the light did not fade,
It became brighter.
Looking into the light with teary eyes,
The boy stumbles to his knees,
Then face down in front of the silhouette.
The silhouette's hand touched the boy's cheek,
Wiped the tears that rolled down from the boys eyes,
And said the words that the little boy will never forget.
"I love you.
I will never hurt you.
I am the Perfect Father,
And you are my son."
