I close my eyes
to embrace the memories I've left behind
the people I've encountered the overabundance of feelings
the pictures and music playing in my head
the video-clips of my life and the words that have been said
the emotions that I've felt the faces I've put on
the laughter and smile that the canvas has drawn
the stories that are told to hide the true self
the eyes do not lie they only cover so much that's been dealt
and when i look i see my real self
someone whose memories are purely lies
covered up by simple words and cries
backstabbing people, liars only wanting to cut deep into the soul
leaving everlasting scars digging beneath the skin taking control
pictures of broken hearts, tears, cheating and things
hearing the words to white horse and realizing what it means
video-clips of joy created by unadulterated falsity
emotions of sadness and sorrow because you were guilty
everyday i knew but tried to cover up with a mask
to simply hide from you, trust that i lack
i simply went on day by day telling lies upon the way
more frequently the stories started to stretch
until I made me believe them myself
now my eyes are open and I'm looking between the lines and see the truth
trust is an issue that arose because of you.

All I can say is what you see isn't always what you get. Best of luck and great write.

You've captured an embodiement of truth in this poem, everything is relatable and very real. The emotions represented come off the page and blend themselves into a seeable story. Excellent work.

This portrayed how it feels to leave someone behind even though you care about them. Vivid and somewhat gruesome imagery. Best of luck.

A good emotional piece, lots of true to life things going on here. We all too often close our eyes to the truth, wanting so much for it to not be a lie. But the day usually comes when we finally wake up to the truth and can begin to set our lives back on keel
A good write and I wish you luck in the contests
