I have a small body
filled with just enough words
to make me weigh one hundred-five pounds
with a winter coat and a bag filled with books
and sometimes I think that just isn't enough
for a poet.
I am June evenings
that are accompanied by nighttime
skies filled with constellations like the ones
in the eyes of a child or of lovers,
but those nights are too beautiful
and just a little too warm for comfort.
I have eyes
that see the beauty in everything,
that seek out the flaws that make
life special and perfect and wonderful,
that see everything as dreams.
I am quiet October afternoons
that are spent curled up in the arms
of a boy who has eyes like murky water
and that are spent writing one poem
for every time the sun sets and rises
with breaths of fall reciting my words.
I have a name
that means more than just its Latin root.
It means the throb of sadness in a teenage heart,
and the happiness of clasped hands, it means butterfly
wings drawn in colored pencils, but most of all it is lovely
and it is Emily.
Author notes
I wrote this in such a way so the first and last line of each stanza form a complete (or whatever seems complete to me) sentence.
Basically it's just two thoughts I'm trying to portray about myself, but I'm sure you understand that already.

Hails to the Poet!
I would need a seraphic lexis to express the impressions that this magnificent poem "Latin Roots" etched on my mind.
The poetic veins of its author are filled with ichor; her heart pumps wonders, and her soul dictates words that have flawless diamond letters.
Everything that is required to compose a true poem abounds through the majestic lines of "Latin Roots": Rhythm, harmonious lexicon, imagery, and the development of the subjects dealt.
Much gratitude to the author "Latin Roots" for addung value to Poetry, and for enriching the American Fine Letters.
In respect and admiration,
Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU
