How to describe a perfect day
The bigots dying as they pray
Or screaming and terror all around
Bodies fall and hit the ground
The preacher man says it’s time to stand
The congregations rises holding hands
Can’t you see the death they bring
Hate that’s hidden as they sing
The perfect day I wish to see
The acceptance that I know can’t be
People no longer begging please
Hate won’t bring them to their knees
The President finally signs a bill
That makes it illegal for them to kill
Their hateful crimes no longer allowed
Second-class citizens stand tall and proud
A perfect day is not yet here
People still filled with too much fear
In our lives terror takes its toll
Hate and fear are in control
I know that they don’t understand
Yet here I stand with visions grand
The preacher will say very soon
I now pronounce you groom and groom
