Smooth Criminals

The sodomite of Gary, IN,
Deceiving masses, masking sin,
His hit records have dried away,
Now Never-Land hosts other play.

Be not naïve, the Hertz pitchman
Whose liberty many condemn:
He killed a friend with ex-wife whore;
There’ll be no Naked Gun, Part 4.

Beretta did it, or did not;
Who truly cares when wives get shot?
The hungry public, starved of news,
Did never think dissenting views?

Then Bush and Co., with blood-stained flags,
Beat down the hopes of married fags,
And liberate the covered dames
By granting Allies rapist games.

Yet rest assured, ‘til th’ end of time:
Not one shall have to pay for crime.

    Another Rome, indeed. I wonder how long the USA has... though I do feel safe in assuming that the good ol' USA will be around for a bit while longer. Great write, and I did get each of your alluded targets.

    I love how you include the public in the blame as well, not just the media. After all, we are becoming alarmingly complacent, and the media is only pushing as far as it can. 'Blood stained flags', how very fitting, metaphorically and otherwise. We are becoming another Rome. Very. Well. Done.

    An interesting piece of social commentary, most of which I can agree with, particularly the final stanza. The madness of current times provides a lot of material for this kind of writing. I have to watch how much of it I write about because it angers me so much that it can consume me.

    Ooooh, the bitingly sarcastic humor in this is just to die for! Those last six lines were my favorite of course because they just smack of a type of honesty that most people are simply not willing or ready to hear. Lovin' it!

    All have skeltons in closet, the only difference is those people have been caught (?) at it. There are eyes that see all and in so much as you have done it to my brother, you have done it to me. We may be able to escape some things, but we can never escape self.

    Good thing you throw in the naked gun there, I forgot about OJ's hertz commercials...

    LOL I hate the news and all the tales of everyone doing bad... especially the celebs and officials cos it's a lil predictable and more often than not drawn out by the media...

    the media should die

    Take care

    I've never read anything of yours, I don't think. I like this alot. This subject has been a topic of discussion between my husband and myself recently. Why is it that times have changed so much, and are leaned so far in one direction that people have no fear of consequence, in any aspect? A very eloquently written piece, your thoughts well conveyed.

    LOL @ the above comment...

    Pick pick pick.... damn... I Loved this.. you make some very strong points.. and offered some very startling insight into out fading society.. I read in the paper a few days ago that it's thought that the USA will be just another 3rd world country within the next 20 years.... I wonder if that's true..

    Sorry, just a random thought.. I really did enjoy this though.. and I can't wait to go back and read more...

    Blessed Be

    Nothing actually happened IN Gary, that's just the birthplace of Michael Jackson.

    Very interesting... but I don't know what happened in Gary, IN. It might be better to explain a little more the events that you allude to. Either way it serves your purpose. Those that do know these events will be affected. Either way, good flow and rhyme. Structurally, it's a good poem. ^^
