There is beauty in the choices of a sweet poetic word,
A metaphor that makes a poem sing;
But surely at the base of it, it cannot be absurd
To pay as much attention to the ring?
There are poets who can make me sigh without a hint of rhyme
But Ogden Nash and Kipling do it every single time.
There is wonder in the brevity of some poetic wit,
There is beauty in the thoughts that lie behind
But we all know that perfect flow can make the phrases fit
Inside a tighter pocket in the mind.
There are poets who have meter in their blood but not their verse,
Would making every line divine make any poem worse?
There are many ways to strive toward a pure poetic dream,
Free verse can often show us all the way
But I am born a worshipper of words that form a stream
I'll swim in sounds until my dying day.
So though the best I'll ever read may miss this purest art,
It's rhyme that fills my dearest thoughts and meter fills my heart.
Please tell me honestly what you think, good or bad.

Hear here
Well up to your usual high standard.
This sums up your poetic ethos perfectly and I wholeheartedly concur with the sentiment.
So much free verse appears to me to be like the emperor's new clothes. Nobody has the backbone to point out that there is no substance to so much of it.
Every poem I have ever meomorised has rhyme and meter.
It ain't worth a dime
If it don't got that rhyme
Keep up the great work

As always your works amazing
this poet deserves some praising
You hold the crown King of Rhyme
you shall wear it a full lifetime
For it is in the Blood of you
nothing but rhyme will do
and thats why cricketjeff I must say
you're the best in word and meter play
Great job hon,
Love you,
Tory

I have always said that the reason we remember poems from childhood and nursery rhymes is because they rhyme. When I read free verse no matter how clever or beautiful it is I will never remember it like I would if it rhymed. It's the same with song lyrics we remember them because they have rhyme and rhythm. I have tried to write free verse but part way through I realize I've reverted to rhyme or I have no idea when to end a line or begin another.
I agree with your poem 100% long live rhythm and rhyme -
This is a complete synopsis of the poet cricketjeff and written with perfect rhyme and flow, but then I would expect nothing more or nothing less.
