Christmas in the Sunshine State

In Florida ‘round Christmastime
The climate is a wondrous thing;
It doesn’t feel like winter, or even fall,
But much, much more like spring,

Once in awhile a front comes through
And for a few days its cold,
Just long enough to remind us
How much we hate the snow.

But we’ve got snow white beaches,
Full of soft as sugar sand,
And we decorate the palm trees,
And our Christmases are grand,

With brightly decorated boats
Parading at night on the Bay,
And gaily lit beach houses,
All along the route on display.

With all the streets garlanded,
With all the trees bedecked,
It looks as much like Christmas
As New York or Quebec.

So, enjoy your sleigh rides,
Your hot cider and spiced tea,
We’ll be on the Beach with Santa,
            Sipping Daiquiris.

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas, quite like Western Australia - except here it is summer, and can sometimes be 40C for Christmas day. Lots of people here head for the beach too! Great poem!

    Oh, what a delightful description
placed so vividly in our minds.
We complain and complain in our
    Northern states, but we still
    do love our White Christmases!!

    This is a wondrous piece!!!!!!
