An Eternally Decayed Smile

"I must leave."

Your shaking breath remains whispering in my head as a silent film, repeating over and over to prove that the past will forever haunt my weakened soul.

"You-you can't. Not now; not after-"

But my trembling lips were prematurely closed as my calls faded into the deepening forest that camouflaged your graceful steps upon the crispy leaves.

"Please! Lord, I beg of thee to bring him back!"

However loud, however long, however pathetic I sobbed he never once turned around to see the flowing lakes that became my eyes.

"......................................"

Silence surrounded me as my mind slowly broke down every single wall my spirit and soul had built to trap in sanity; Numbness was not only wanted but needed with an overpowering desire.

And yet again silence smogged the air with the dooming of a shattered life shrieking to be stapled together again with hopeless dreams and fantasy.

My love it has been sixty-three years since my dull eyes were captivated by your glimmering smile and yet here I still lay, a decayed smile engraved into my weathered skull to wait for your return eternally.

The poignance incorporated in every word make the romance so sincere beautiful yet shaded with strokes of gray. The eternal wait depicted in the lines has the feel of the romantic sagas that are legendary in world history. Thanks for sharig, take care...
