If words can break something
So easily,
Why can't they fix it?
I don't understand you,
But that's no excuse
To throw those accusations around.
Empty words,
That's all they were,
But how can I convince you
Of that truth?

I don't usually fight back;
You know that.
This one time is
The exception to the rule,
I've been taking the heat for so long,
Misunderstanding your every look
(Apparently, that is).
All this time,
I thought you could barely
Contain your disgust for me,
But maybe that's just my insecurity
Peeking through.
We were simply together
"Out of necessity,"
Because no one else would put up with us.

Everything builds up,
And even a solid steel wall can only last for so long
Under that kind of pressure.
Maybe everything has really been
Just a lie, a facade we've built
For the benefit of others.
Underneath it, I know I've been suffering.

About everything,
About you.
