The love child (chapter 2 STORY)

Chapter 2
the new queen lounged on the kings bed covered in a red silk robe and white nightgown – she knew that tonight was the night that he got to have his way with her for the very first time.
Excitement filled her and her heart thumped wildly at the thought of having her new husband touch her. She imagined that it would be erotic, sensual and romantic.
Suddenly without any warning her former lover popped in her head. His brown hair glistening in the sun and his beautiful twinkling gold eyes smiling down at her as they lay in the grass cuddled next to each other laughing and talking bout their future together.  Her eyes immediately went to her wrist- she still wore the bracelet he gave her the day she left him to the new kingdom. Their last words together still lingered in her head.
“I never loved anyone as much as I love you Eve. You make me smile.” His voice was colored with melancholy.
Eve looked up at the stars trying hard not to cry, at least not infront of him that is. “I feel the same way Joel, my heart wants you and no one else.” Her voice was trembling as was her body.

They spent their night together in a barn sleeping side by side holding each other thinking each other was sleeping they lay on the hay bed quietly crying themselves to sleep.

Eve closed her eyes remembering what he felt like when she hugged him in bed and quietly cursed herself for not giving herself  to him that very last night.
There was a very light but firm knock on the door which startled Eve at first but when she saw the kings head pop in she smiled and waved him over to the bed.
He strolled over and sat on the edge of the bed next to her. “Eve.” He whispered her name seductively and brushed her hair to the side once.
A small breath escaped her lips as she peered back at her new husband with loving eyes.

Her hands enclosed his body as she leaned back on the bed bringing him on top as she

let her purity fade away.

                                                          7 months later
The Doctor comes out of Eve’s room with the same solemn face he had on 3 years ago the same fate of a soul he couldn’t save. The doctor stared Alex straight in the eyes and whispered to him in a sad voice. “I’m sorry Alex. Eve will not be able to bare any more children .”
The king stared at him at what was disbelief and confusion. “I, I’m afraid I don’t understand Vale.”
The doctor pitied the young man, his best friend and tried to break it to him as carefully as possible.

“Alex. Your wife was seven months pregnant.” The king let out a grave moan. “I’m….I’m afraid when she woke up this morning the child….well the child died around eight a.m.”
Alexander put his head in his hands and trembled with anger and melancholy. “ I….i wasn’t paying any attention to her…..the last 6 months she’s tried to tell me but I kept ignoring her! Paying more attention to the kingdom….and seven months later I thought that…..she was just gaining weight!  I’ve lost one child and a wife three years ago! And now I’ve lost another child! What am I doing wrong Vale? Is it me? I mean am I not pleasing right?” Tears streamed down his face as he slumped against the stone wall, Vale was by his side.
“No, No! That is not it at all dear friend.” Vales voice was weary and concerned. “It is not you. It is the women! I believe they are incompetent in this king dome. It is their fault. Not yours”
The king looked at the doctor with hope in his eyes. “it is?”
Vale laughed a sigh of relief and nodded. “I’m afraid all these women are good for is bedding kind sir.” His joke was meant to lighten the solemn mood and it seemed to work for the king let out a low chuckle.
“What can I do Vale? I want a son so bad to take my place as the next king.” His sad eyes fixed on a bug that was tangled in a spider’s web jus as the big black spider leaped on the bug and spun him swiftly in his web.
Vale shrugged a little. “Get a new wife?” He knew that idea was laughable because the king’s love and devotion always went to his new wife Eve.
“No. I love Eve with all my heart; I could never do that to her, no matter what.”

“I know majesty. But if you want a son ….pay one of your servants to have his daughter bear you a son.” He got up and quickly walked away leaving the king to sit in the hallway contemplating the idea.
Across from the king, Eve sat up in bed listening to the full conversation that went on. Every word that filled her head was like a knife stabbing through her chest. So they blamed it on her that she could not carry a child. That her baby died while inside of her. How unfair. She thought sadly to herself.
She looked over at the pile of bloodied bed sheets all balled up at the edge of her bed knowing that if she hadn’t slept on her stomach…. her unborn baby would still be inside her.
Tears spilled on Eve’s face as hurt stabbed at her with intensity; a small whimper passed her lips thoughts of her would-have-been baby, how she will never hold her baby, to hear its first giggle, and she will get to hear him say his first word, to never see him grow up to be a king.
The more she thought of having a little baby and then having it snatched away from her made her grow infuriated. And the more infuriated the more she wanted to put all the blame on some one else... She wanted to hurt the last person that held her baby.
