Motor city Martha
lived at the end of Holcomb street
For years she snatched the children
who went out to trick or treat
Finally she was caught
and they did sentence her to death
Swearing then to seek revenge
upon her very dying breath
Coming from beyond the grave
to walk this world of woe
For all her crimes she pays the price
with no where left to go
Down those darkened corridors
lurks a spirit quite undead
Waiting for the unsuspecting
and crawl inside your head
Planting horrid memories
of all the cruelty that she played
Transferring all her guilt to you
until your soul is frayed
As sorrow then becomes your bane
with the million tears now cried
Your tainted heart as black as coal
from living all her lies
Suffering sorrows years of ill
in darkness of this living hell
Until she finds another mind
to plant her heinous spell
Be careful as you dress
and head out for the night
For in the darkness she does wait
to fill you full of fright

With witchcraft and fairy dust you know your mind is gone, for when she settles her mind on you, it is then too late to run. Love the story and you know that I love you.
My Pirate King, all my love for you and best of luck with this.

Welll, I really like the way you handled the verse and the rhyme, the rhythm and the tempo. You told a wicked tale... but I didn't get exactly what this creature is and how it ties into Halloween or Detroit. I think you really need one or the other (or both) in this piece, for this particular contest.
