Hey guy I saw you before
you saw me,
Yes, I'm watching you from
behind this tree.
Ha! ha! ha! you couldn't sneak
upon me from behind,
I'm waiting to see what's
on your mind.
If you come closer up this
tree I will go,
Then from high up I can watch
you far below.
Don't think I will walk your
way,
Safely by this tree I will
gladly stay

I saw this little guy gathering for winter the other day and as he saw me he hid behind this tree and just peeked around it at me!

What a fantastic pic, you must've been nimble-fingered to have caught him in that poise! Wonderful! Seems you have a gift with wielding a camera as well as a pen - the photos on the two poems I've read this morning (8am here, I keep very funny hours as haven't yet been to bed, lol) have been of very high quality.
I like this piece, it is very playful. A moment of brevity - how we can all benefit from a read of this one from time to time! If you don't mind, I'd love to add it to my list for poems by others which I enjoy and recommend to those who browse my Ap-space. Send me a message to let me know
You seem to shrug your shoulders at the stern face of metre, in rhyming poetry ... yet the result seems to be that it gives your poetry a kind of "eccentric voice" or character
It is a peculiar style, but works for me! I think it adds a sense of fun, especially with this piece, as if to give the effect of the squirrel speaking continuously as he appears and disappears, the second line of each couplet being shorter, as if those are the words he says when he pops out his head before hiding again. Hmm, now you think I am completely mad

Thank you ever so much for coming by and reading this This little guy had been giving me the slip for quite some time. It seemed he always heard or seen me first and would scamper just out of sight. This day though I surprised him a little. He ran but did not know exactly where I was. I like going out with my camera on walks and just taking what I come across. I try to write by smoothly flowing sounds. I don't adhere to exact forms but just go according to how it sounds. I thought many would like this one and I am glad you found it funny and nice.
