testament to the season:
rich golds and umbers overshadowed by
inky nights, where small figures can be seen
creeping from door to door, never
knowing what will lie in store.
obedient to the call of the night,
reality transforms to fright.
toilet paper and Snickers bars,
recreate the timeless chant, a treasured
extension of childhood;
alliteration at its finest continues
to torment those who insist on growing up.
Author notes
Acrostic to "Trick or Treat". The title alludes to the last part of the taunt: "If you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear", which is the way I always heard it.
