Look at her dress
as it floats down the red carpet.
It sparkles in my eyes,
making me wonder what it would be like
to be her,
to be famous and on TV.
Look at him
at the podium accepting his award.
His speech moves me
and inspires me to be him,
to be in movies
and blow them away
with my stellar performance.
I would be etched forever on the sidewalk.
But I would always remember that
If I had fame and fortune,
I would still be humble.
I would still go to my hometown
and see my family and friends.
I would still throw a dollar
into a homeless man's hand.
I would still recycle my bottles and cans.
I would still remember
the roots in my tree.
I would still be me.
No matter what happens to me,
No matter how far I go,
I will always remember
the roots in my tree.
I would still be me.
Author notes
I wrote this piece while watching the Academy Awards back in the winter of this year. It got me thinking about fame and what I would be like if for some reason I became famous.
Please tell me what you think

I like the repetition and build up to the latter part of the poem. If, If, If, If... It makes you wonder what you're up to, and then you release the full meaning. Very nicely done. Remembering your roots can be difficult but worth it.
