That Woman Is Me

(Spoken Word)

We all know nothing out here lasts forever,
Wherever and however
I’m out here chasing after my cheddar.
Trying to make a better, life for self and live without righteousness
Yet and still got haters on my back
Eyes hungry for my success!
I am Duress.
And a hot mess;
The perfect anecdote for stress
But please believe I will be blessed—nothing less
Than 100 on any test—
Of life. For I am strong in will and filled with skill
The Mighty One hath given unto me
For who can see deepest in the sea
Of my Perfect Imperfection? A grand collection
of thoughts, love, and pride—
I can’t walk on two feet
When I’ve got four wheels to ride.
And no I’ll never apologize for my up rise
I’m proud to be a mixed child who thrives,
And Yes, I’ll dive into your lies
About what you think you know of me.
I am the eclectic blend of three; so beautifully
Intertwined of silk and fine wines—
No cloth compares to the fur of this feline.
For my time has come and I shall dine
On a feast made for few in life—Strife
May be my companion, however;
There is no situation so complicatedly
That I can’t see; my free will at the end of the tunnel.
If I am Light then Darkness is my sister
The storm—we are evermore the Twister
In a Kansas City of our own, we get far from home
In a world unknown
But that is the complexity in life we have been shown.
It is my destiny to rise above any occasion—for
Strong is my persuasion against the follies of man
Who but I can understand what it’s like
To lose that upper hand. But that’s why we rise:
To try again, again, and again.
Do not feel sorrow for my battles
They are my scars and thus my pride
And I,
Take great pleasure in overcoming
The wickedly cunning—those who think too proudly
Of themselves yet stand before me
Incessantly, forgotten see they are no longer in my mind.
For I have not the time to dwell
on those insects—I do repel
as you have no Heaven nor a Hell
in which to place me.
Place your burdens on yourself and not on I
As only then can you begin to rectify
Your own mishaps and misjudgments
Shape your own destiny and leave me to mines.
For you can never step into my shoes—
the heels alone are far to high
and yes, I cry when I’m in pain
sometimes the sunny skies do rain
in my July—
Envy me if you must for I see it an honor
That my very name rests upon your lips
And pointy fingertips, for there is much to
Entertain you;
My thoughts alone will restrain you and
This creativeness shall remain true:
I am the star of the brightest hue; she—
Lady with classic divinity
And if you didn’t know;
I L O V E who I be cause there’s no other
Out there like she.
Do you know of whom I speak?
There is but one your eyes can see,
Look through your mirror:
That woman is me.

A high honor of praise from you and I thank you dearly. Truely, I've always believed in uplifting women in poetry as we've not been granted our due respects all too often in written literature. Besides, I like to share my talent with others in the world to let them know that it's not always about writing about the self. We should share our own thoughts and inner feelings with others so they too can know they are not alone in life.

Thanks so much for reading. I'll be adding more soon.

Thanks so much for reading it. It's supposed to be uplifting for anyone whom has ever been in a situation where others have belittled them and/or hurt them in some fashion.

      Appreciate your comments.
