Song of the Nightingale

I
In the Season of Conviviality ~~
When a Maid is blush with Rose;
Poets drip ambrosia to nip the Bud's re pose.

II
Frolic hums ~~ comes Meadowland; con spires the Lute and Lyre ~~
Inspired the Gents to airy comment and the Ladies to Courtesy's shire;
Plums and Pommes the daytime fare 'till lusty flight plays Night's Volgere.

III
'Tis feasting time for russet hen and suckling whirls the spit;
Gentle men and Ladies bear white ruff of banded lace ~~
And braids of gold along pale cheek trace ~ shy milady's face.

IV
O come ye Minstrels, Bards and Harlequins create Eve's festive mood;
Orchestrate with fireflies the solstice flight of bumble bee t'ward honey ~~
'Tis Summer sweet...re plete with Crescent moon and wine of Calliope.

V
'Tis close the hour of shade and bower of snare or dreamer's lair ~~
To taste of sweetest melon en la chambre y toute a leure;
On Gilted Wings of Harmony ~~ Mademoiselle y Monsieur par lay.

VI
From the Branch of honeysuckle vine to the Cup of ambrosial wine ~~
The Maiden bows and lifts her veil to sing the Song of Nightingale;
The dance begun the feast un done; tra la tra la let Love prevail!

    This lovely piece is scented with the power and purity of mead, Poet. You've incorporated many lovely, ancient images throughout, lending such credence to the prompt. Indeed, I could easily envision maids as they frolic, gentlemen as they sipped of the furious feast between each line. Good luck in the contest. You've done the bard great homage, methinks.

    Exquisitely Extraordinary...

    Superb imagery and lexicon. This poem is a literary collector's item... All of its stanzas sing along, specially, the sixth stanza is a flawless emerald cut alexandrite.

    I have enjoyed the reading of a poem that adds value to Poetry, inspires the mind, and nourishes the soul. "Song of the Nightingale" glows.

    In respect and admiration,
