This is a very pretty piece. The only suggestion I have is to make "flower" plural, so that it matches "spirals." Because in the picture, there are more than one flowers, and the singular form of flower doesn't really make sense. Aside from that, it was a very cheerful piece.

I can just see them, even without the picture. This is not a flower we really have up here, but it sure sounds pretty.

    very good

Well done. What I liked most about this poem is that you stopped to observe. Most folks walk right by the beauty in our world (and in each other) without seeing.

Might I suggest some spacing after the poem to separate it from the comments. It deserves it.

    Good Job

Your poem although short was descriptive enough to see the flowers. The graphic was wonderful but the poem could stand alone. When the poem is very short, each word must be in place perfectly. This happened in your poem. Great Job..

I have always loved hollyhocks and their riot of colour starngely they bloom very well here in Kuwait and many houses have them planted outside. garden are encouraged here so even though the houses are large and taken up most of the land there are no objections if people claim a little of the pavement to make their gardens these are usually open and anyone walking by can enjoy the beautiful site of the flowers. and now everywhere there are these tall beauties prettily nodding their heads in the spring breeze a lovely sight to enjoy evoking memories of childhood as does your poem.

    Dear Susan,
Splendid Haiku and of course they are Hollyhocks! I hope you didn't drive out to the Airport to collect me Susan. When you told me about having to sleep on the couch I changed my mind!
Sorry, but I've got a bung leg at present to contend with.
    Love and hugs XXX Hugh.

My entire side fence in the backyard is completely covered by hollyhocks. Every year I take dozens of pictures of them. I have a couple photoku posted somewhere in that ridiculously long list of poems of mine.... lol..... they are awesome. Nice work.

Such a beaitiful haiku, Susan, about a very beautiful flower. I haven't seen Hollyhocks in years but as I mentioned in the reply to Kayla's comment above.... they grew profusely next to our garage when I was a kid....lol, in fact I came across an old picture the other day of me at the age of 13, the picture of my sister and I standing next to these towering flowers.

    Lovely poem

Yes, Kayla, these are real hollyhocks When I was a kid growing up in southern Oregon, we had loads of them growing next to ou garage. The ones we had were a dark pink, and there's other colors, too, I believe. I've just seen the colors in Susan's picture and the dark and light pink ones. They're very beautiful flowers, as you can see.

We read a story in english called "The sound of the hollyhocks" (i think) and I had no idea what they looked like, so is the picture actually of hollyhocks, or are they just random flowers the same colour of hollyhocks? cuz if they are, I now know what a hollyhock looks like

It's nice when sometimes the smallest things can brighten your day I'm glad the sight of a flower did it for you

thanks for reading more than i asked you to read susan you're awesome
