When Words Become Silent(bronzex2)

The words,
once colliding in ravenous need,
whipped by whirlwinds of passion,
found fear and deceit
and froze in mid air,
with somersaulting pain.

Wisdom wept powerful tears
as it heard a dimming heartbeat
and the last sun set upon
a stilled breath of perplexity.

Past echoed its fine beauty,
where acceptance
had grown and bloomed
within humanity's wondrous smiles.

But today,
the memory flows,
as the distance shivers,
avoiding capture.

Now mind and breath
are dulled and speechless,
as the disquiet infects thought,
becoming gnarled and sad,
whilst the precious sky falls.

This is a wonderful penning, Poet. Your final stanza was staggering in its depiction towards Sylvia's poetry, her life and lifestyle. Beautifully portrayed. Congratulations.

Gaylene ~ what impresses me about your writing
is that you are able to capture so much,
    in simple language that doesn't have me running to my dictionary in panic;
and that is such a valuable skill,
as you don't sacrifice one iota of meaning in the process.

    Wow.

The image in your first stanza especially, and your imagery throughout filled my mind's eye.

And the feeling of your poem . . . did I say

    wow?

I started this contest hoping to critique and criticize . . . I've been knocked down a few pegs

    My best,
    Zach Estel.
