I miss the old fairytales
Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White
I read them all
I would tuck myself in at night
I would find a storybook
And read until my lids fell
The wonderful Cinderella
Struggling through her days
Trying to stand up to her step family
But never succeeding
Until one day she finds her Prince
He dances with her in the pale moonlight
The clock strikes midnight
Off she runs, leaving her slipper behind
The magic from Fairy Godmother ran out
She is once again in her ragged clothes
Unhappiness filling her heart
She cries to her animal friends
Finding the comfort in their presence
There is a messenger at the door then
The Prince is searching for the beauty
The one who has lost her slipper
Of course the stepsisters fib about it being theirs
They tried on the slipper, but it would not fit either foot
Cinderella crept down from her hiding place
She offered to try it on
And it was a perfect fit on her
She left the family she had known for a better home
And she did live happily ever after
Author notes
This was for writer's block class. Inspired by my love of fairytales.
I still believe in those stories. I long to be someones Princess.
