Fakin' It

Missing image
So I don't
'fit the scene',
You're embarrassed to be seen with me,
Well listen and learn you stupid bitch,
You might wanna' take notes on this.

You can keep your face cloth shirts and barely there skirts,
I'm happy in my cargo pants and hoody's OK
&&
I have better things to do
with the first  hour of my day,
than make myself 'presentable'
(as you say),

An hour in front of the mirror,
applying crap to your face for that,
'natural glow that glitters'.

You say I'm a disgrace...
At least I aint' fake!

Loved the little note at the top...!
Love it muchly... Because I never have the money for fashion, and most of it is damned foul looking anyway.
So that definitely makes me feel better aout myself!

Also loved your anecdote at the bottom.

You definitely vented in this, using appropriate language, and saying it 'as it is'.
    I loved this part...

I have better things to do
with the first hour of my day,
    than make myself 'presentable'
    (as you say),

It's a definitive waste of time, in my opinion...My moring routine is crawl outta bed, sleepwalk to the kitchen, boil the kettle, drain coffee whilst yanking clothes on, and then running out the door.

    Being fake is boring.
Being yourself is so much better.

I can relate to this so closely, it effected me when people didnt like because of something so shallow but I got over it and have also realised that they are a joke wasting away in front of a mirror just so they can pull a random guy. Life apart form then 'popular group' will always be more fulfilled and true, atleast you can say that youve always been you, like you said youve never been fake. I love the poem. It flows well and the emotion in it is clear.

Sadly so many are influenced by fashion and advertising, when their goal is making money, NOT helping grow a better world. It is better to accept who we are, and never try to be what the world thinks we should be. Your poem is a very 'in your face' example of that. If only we could exclude all forms of those types of advertising from our youth, yeah, I know that would be censorship, sadly, but it could prevent people from having self-esteem problems, and possibly save a lot of lives! Best wishes in the contest.

Ah it is such a relief to find someone else who feels this way about fashion and redectorating oneself every morning. Thank you so much for the feeling that someone else feels this way. Great write, so forceful, you put the point across well.

I personally prefer the natural look of a girl, without looking like some sort of neo-trendy clown ditz from an anime series.
Not that they are not pretty, but just dolling up to put on a front is like saying you just want to look good enough to get laided and be done with it.
And so many clueless, naïve females wonder why males act they way they do and treat them as such, not being aware that they purposely create their facade to do just that and "innocently" put out that vibe (mind you i know not all girls do that, nor do all guys treat them as such either).
Oh well, people are idiots (we made nuclear bombs and methanphetamines).

A friend like that isn't one you need, you need people who love you for what's on the inside.
