The last day of October, on a cold and frosty night
Children and the spirits rise, to give the streets a fright
Your pumpkin’s sat there grinning, carved uniquely with a knife
A candle burning bright inside, a soul that gives it life
Smiling at the passers by it’s soul begins to flicker
Blowing in the wind releasing evil even quicker
Petrified by feelings with no logic explanation
You hide away at home and pray from evil you have isolation
As you sit there shaking there’s a knocking at the door
Your pupils quickly dilate as the tears begin to pour
Slowly you approach it easing caution every step
You open thinking “trick or treat” but something’s there you don’t expect…

Creepy
I like this poem. The story line is easy to follow, yet it does have some complexity. And while i thought there might be a happy or funny ending, there is a delightfully distraught twist. Good job!

Hey i like this poem and your picture you used.
"Smiling at the passers by it’s soul begins to flicker
Blowing in the wind releasing evil even quicker"
where my favourite lines,i like how you decribed the candle being the soul of the pumpkin and how it silently flickers, waiting and drawing in those unsuspecting around.
Happy Halloween!

Thanks for your comment. Very interesting, I nearly put a line in there about the pumpkin drawing people in but decided not to. I'm glad it still gives that picture and obviously didn't need to be written.
