It seems to me and always had,
To work real hard is not so bad.
Amazing though it may have been,
There those that don’t feel this within.
They wait and wish for their free lunch,
Then flock to those who have a bunch,
While I pay dues and have my fill,
To suite my taste… not other's swill.
I'm not quite sure when this began,
But race was run and no one ran.
A new race set, soon close at hand,
It could be now they’d like it banned.
Much later said won’t help when mad,
Too bad, so sad, I wish I had.
You sacrifice for change you need,
With others helping… plant that seed.
The work ethic that I have known,
Is still out there just not well shown.
Blood sweat and tears, not a cliché,
Much in demand these times today.
Too much to do, so little time,
And me here trying best to rhyme,
So pick one thing and get involved,
The only way problems are solved.

Workin hard for the fellowman...
I think of you and think of large steaks sizllin
you hear they spent $24000 per cash for clunker car in tax money?

I have the steaks and fire but not the appetite.
I heard about the extent of the stupidity on clunkers. The election tonight is showing a bit of disfavor in Obamanationland.
Hope you are well.

The last stanza was by far my favorite, with the last two lines closing out the poem in grand style. And your poem is so true. I am against cherry pickers of all types.
Thank you for entering my contest. Good luck to you. I know how hard it is to write a poem on the spot and I appreciate the effort.
