The Venusian Dome

The year 2188 began like other years.  And, at the time, our president was a man by the name of Lear.  He thought Iraq had gone too far by nuking Germany.  Lear didn’t want a World War IV; he didn’t quite like III.  His plan for worldwide peace was this: We needed a new home.  If we could get men on Venus, then they could build a dome.  Lear said there’d be no peace on Earth; his plan was strange, at first.  The dome could have the “best” people, and Earth could keep the “worst”.  The people from the “good” countries would leave the planet Earth.  The “bad” countries would have to stay until they proved their worth.
The people from the “bad” countries, like Iraq and Iran, despised Lear’s plan for worldwide peace.  But, the dome plan soon began.
So, the “good” countries all flew away and enjoyed their peaceful dome.  The “bad” countries just stayed on Earth and dreamed of a new home.  The Venusians, as they were called, had peace, but not for long.  The United States should rule the dome; at least, that’s what Lear thought.  The other “good” countries disagreed, so all the Venusians fought.
So, America bombed Britain, and Britain bombed Japan, and war was raging in the dome; and then, Lear made a plan.  He knew the Venusians would all be dead if he didn’t do something soon.  The “good” Venusians, he said, should all go to the Moon.  So, all the “good” Venusians traveled to their new home, and all the “bad” Venusians just stayed inside the dome.  But, back on Earth, the Earthlings had a plan all of their own.  They wanted to attack Venus so they could rule the dome.
So, the Earthlings bombed the Venusian Dome, and the Venusians bombed the Earth.  And then the Earthlings bombed the Moon and the Moon people bombed Earth.  And war was raging everywhere, and Lear did not know why.  Everyone was willing to fight, and just as willing to die.  Then quicker than it had begun, the bombs finally stopped flying.  And then there was calm throughout the world as everyone lay dying.
The Great Dome War was finally done, and the world looked pretty sad.  You couldn’t really tell who won, or who was “good” or “bad”.  The Venusian Dome, for which they’d fought, collapsed and stood no more.  Lear’s plan for worldwide peace had caused the Great Dome War.  So, it seemed as if Lear’s plan had failed; but it had worked instead.
Peace existed everywhere, when everyone was dead.
