nobody liked to pull her hair
it wasn't that they didn't care
it's just the weight of holding on
she grew daisies by the pair
n' she would wear 'em anywhere
her small light could shine upon
but she threw away that daisy chain
she moved away and changed her name
she's got a new song now
got a new song now
n' she grows roses on her front porch
she grows roses on the beach
she grows roses in the open and in places hard to reach
she grows roses when the sun shines
she grows roses when she sleeps
she grows roses so the bleeding's all the hurt she'll have to keep
she's the one pullin' the hair now
she's got the scent fillin' the air now
it's just the cherries gettin' ripe
bluebell n' bumble couldn't compare now
bluebird n' blossom don't even dare now
take this roller coaster home
where she grows roses when it's dark out
she grows roses when it rains
she grows roses in the morning when the dew fogs up the panes
she grows roses like her mother did
she grows roses 'cause it's all
she can bring herself to bargain should she grow an'thing at all
only roses leave the next day
only roses know the way
only roses know the thorn's only as deep as long's they stay
so she grows roses when the moon shines
every night 'til s'shines no more
until her song is over
she'll grow roses wreathed in clover
all she knows is
she grows roses
she grows roses evermore
