I was now a statistic
said it was malignant,
surgery was scheduled.
I stand before the mirror
a tiny lump, size of a pea
never caused discomfort
yet now, my life crumbles.
Shoud it be one or both
they ask me that question!
My body will be destroyed
because I have breast cancer.
I'm only turned twenty-four
in the prime of my short life
having so many plans made
the future was mine to have.
I hadn't had any children yet
how would this affect that
marriage was out, for no man
would ever want me again.
For now I cry, feel so alone
it doesn't seem fair, why me?
what does tomorrow hold,
at least, I'll remain alive!

Loneliness by David Hall
This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I felt this would be appropriate to pen a poem touching only the tip of the emotions a woman has.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) (also referred to locally as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)) is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.

This is such an awesome take on my sketch
Very different take but indeed powerful
very poignant but so is breast cancer
I was speaking to a women at my
daughter's wedding two days ago that
just got diagnosed with a malignant lump
This is a very horrifying trying time...
Many prayers and compassion is needed
Y
ou vivid imagery captured the hardships
that one is feeling with breast cancer
Very sad story that you have woven
However thank you for this take and
speaking out loud for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM)
I am honored that you let my sketch speak for this cause as well

Thank you for your entry
Wish you the best in the contest
David

Wow it is a really great poem. For a moment I thought you found out that you had breast cancer and I started to worry for a moment. Then I read that it was only a prompt and I was so relieved right there. I really enjoyed reading. I hope you do well in my contest and thanks for entering. Love and Peace!
