He Holds My Hand

tears may tally my trials and tattle on me
when life's burdens become more than I can bear
but from deep in my heart, my faith says You are here
to carry me past the pain and a new path I shall see

when all seems hopeless, You give me new found hope
like when my daughter is clinging to life by a thread
I can feel Your presence hovering over her hospital bed
and I know that through this too, with Your hand... I'll cope

it is You, Lord, who carries me through day to day
and I thank you my dear Father for all that You've done
for the life You've given me as the sacrificial Son
and the precious gift of hearing and heeding when I pray

Writing is something that has always been for me.  As a
child I wrote short stories and sold them to neighbors for a nickel
to buy a bag of beans for a family down the lane who had no money.
At least that was what I thought.  I later learned that the bag of beans
that I was purchasing went to my own family who had no money, which
I did not realize at the time was poor.  As I grew, I learned that people
were more apt to 'hear' what I had to say by reading it, rather than listening
to me and thus I took a love of writing.  I started winning contest by the age
of nine and that inspired me to continue.  I write today mostly to release
emotions and to get what I believe to be important messages out to the public.

Susan Pennycuff is a disabled veteran who spends most of her time
volunteering taking care of the elderly and or disabled.  She also fosters
children with disabilities.  She has been writing most of her life having started
as a child.  She has written thousands of poems and is awaken in the middle of
the night most nights by the urge to write poetry, knowing that sleep will not
come until she pens the words in her head.  Her poetry range covers all genre
and has a vast range of messages delivered but her favorites are those involving
the prevention of abuse (of all types) and those glorifying the Lord.

Very insightful poetry and prose, Suzi. It really brings out who you are and why you write the words you do. It is honest and full with imagery of who Suzi is. It isn't a tell-all, but a glimpse into you, the wonderful person I have come to know - well at least as much as one can know another from a zillion miles away. Great entry into the contest, dear. Rose.
